Providing a safe, dependable, professional service to support AIL (Abnormal Indivisible Load) movements in accordance with Highways Agency Codes of Practice/industry best practice.

 

Working with all stakeholders (hauliers, agents, highways agencies, Police and other Escorters) for a seamless movement of your load.
 
We operate from nr J33/M4 in the Cardiff/South Wales region.

Requirement for Escort: Local Police force areas vary but, as a general guide, an Abnormal Loads will require at least one Private Escort if load exceeds:-
 
Width: > 4.6m (Motorways)/4.1m all other roads
Overall Length: > 30.5m
Gross Weight: > 150T (Motorways)/100T all other roads
 
 
 
There may be other circumstances that will influence the decision for Escort - eg for portions of the journey (leaving/entering site) and/or where there are known hazards or restrictions. The haulier is ultimately responsible for the suitability of the route so, consequently, an Escorter who has knowledge of the start/finish area(s) is of particular value both for providing advance route advice/surveys as well as operationally on the day of the move - see also our services & local information.

Safe
We recognise the importance of the Escorts role in complying with legal & safety requirements.

When notifying the movement of an abnormal load (or abnormal load vehicle); the police may ask for a self-certificate or other evidence to show that the vehicles and personnel to be used comply with the Highways Agency Code of Practice (Self-Escorting of Abnormal Loads and Abnormal Vehicles).

We provide a Self Escorting Declaration which may be retained by clients for compliance purposes or forwarded to relevant Police forces.

 

Professional
UK/EU Compatible CB/PMR Communications - enables inter-vehicle communication & 'rolling' starts/finishes. Portable PMR radios also available for assisting driver in tight areas or where driver has no CB Radio.
 

Optional Double Crew- ideal to either ride with a driver (who may not speak fluent English); or for traffic management, manouvering in tight areas etc.

 

Front & Rear Facing CCTV - Helps to protect haulier and escort in the event of a road traffic incident caused by another road user.

 

Video Route Surveys - Annotated video route survey of anticipated route options.

 

Traffic Management Plan (TMP)

We can provide a TMP supported by on-board CCTV evidence to support you AIL movement/route survey.
